In the early 1990s, the founder of this breakthrough therapy for PTSD and other emotional issues
asked me to co-author a book that would tell the stories of how EMDR has helped people traumatized
by violent, abusive or terrifying events. The result was
EMDR: The Breakthrough Therapy for Overcoming Anxiety, Stress and Trauma.
In writing this book, I interviewed more than twenty men, women, and children (and their therapists) whose psychological problems -- some of them very deep and long-lasting -- were healed quickly through the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Whether they were the victims of rape, combat stress, tornadoes, persistent grief, addiction, panic attacks, or night terrors, these courageous individuals, with the help of their therapists, successfully used EMDR to put the past behind them and begin leading full and happy lives once again. Telling their stories was an amazing experience and I am grateful to every one of the people who shared their stories. |
"As the developer of EMDR, I offer my gratitude to Margot Silk Forrest for her extraordinary writing talents, which allowed the stories of suffering and transformation that are described in this book to come alive so vividly."
